Erdogan states Turkey increased share of renewable energy to over sixty percent
(MENAFN) Türkiye has boosted the proportion of renewable energy in its total installed capacity to more than 60% this year, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday.
“While increasing the share of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency, we are expanding low carbon technologies in industry. As of this year, we have raised the share of renewable energy within the total installed capacity up to more than 60%,” Erdogan stated during the UN Climate Summit in New York.
The president also emphasized efforts to enhance infrastructure, highlighting investments in electric vehicle production and railways. “In line with our net zero emissions target for 2053, we will continue to transform key sectors,” he added.
Erdogan outlined Türkiye’s ongoing measures, including plans to introduce an emissions trading system, implement a green finance strategy, and develop a national green taxonomy.
He explained that the country’s climate policy is structured around seven key areas: energy, industry, buildings, transportation, waste, agriculture, and forestry.
